Take some time out on the Northern Beaches

The holidays are over, the kids are back at school, and the cooler weather is around the corner.

After the hustle and bustle of the summer holidays, the madness of Christmas and the stress of getting back to work, now is the perfect time of year to unwind a little and enjoy some TLC.

Here are some activities you can enjoy on the mid Northern Beaches to help you unwind after a stressful summer.

Pamper yourself

The Northern Beaches are full of places to pamper yourself this autumn and take care of your physical and mental well-being.

  • Wellness + Recovery: Get your body back in order with Recentre in Brookvale. This new facility offers world-class remedial massage, classes, compression therapy, infrared saunas and ice baths. Whether you’re recovering from an illness or injury, want to get stronger or just want to feel better, Recentre will have a treatment for you. Another option is City Cave, which offers float tank experiences in Balgowlah.
  • Spa day: Nothing says indulgence like a luxurious trip to a day spa. Get primped and pampered at Sarang Spa, or Endota, both in the Warringah Mall and come home feeling refreshed and ready to face the rest of the year.

Eat out or in

There are so many places to find good food on the Northern Beaches. Here are two of our favourites for a special occasion.

  • Sake: Treat yourself to award-winning contemporary Japanese cuisine at Sake Restaurant in Manly. Situated on the iconic Manly Wharf, Sake Restaurant is the perfect place for a classy night out that will make you feel special as you enjoy delicious food, stunning views and real customer service.
  • Pilu: At Pilu, chef Giovanni Pilu brings his Sardinian philosophy to serving food. He says, “Food, and the hospitality associated with sharing it, is integral to the Sardinian way of Life.” Enjoy this Sardinian hospitality and regional Italian cooking at Pilu’s gorgeous seaside location.

With the convenience of delivery services like Uber Eats and Menulog, it’s easier than ever to enjoy fine dining at home without piling up the dishes. Treat yourself and your family to some cheap in and order in. Wandee Thai offers tasty meals delivered to your door or, if you prefer Indian, try Delhi Darbar, which gets great reviews from locals.

Get back to nature

Nature is everywhere on the Northern Beaches. Here are some of the best places to get back to nature.

  • The beach: The Northern Beaches truly live up to their name with dozens of spots to enjoy the natural coastline of Sydney. From Manly up to Palm Beach, it feels like there are more beaches than you can count. Whether you go for a sandy stroll, a cool dip or grab a board and go for a surf, heading to the beach is an excellent way to get in touch with nature and get some exercise at the same time, and there is nowhere better to do this than Sydney’s Northern Beaches. Join the Bold and Beautiful Swim Squad in Manly and enjoy a morning swim, or be brave and face the cold this winter with the Dee Why Ice Picks who swim in the Dee Why Rockpool in the colder months of the year.
  • Manly Dam: Manly Dam, officially known as Manly Warringah War Memorial State Park, is a local favourite for getting out and about in nature. With trails circling the dam, it is the perfect place to walk, trail run or cycle on a pleasant day. Water sports are popular on Manly Dam as well with many folks getting out on the water to water ski, paddle board and kayak. There are multiple access points if you are on foot, but for vehicle access, head to King Street.
  • Narrabeen Lagoon: It may be a little way up the road, but Narrabeen Lagoon is a wonderful place for a day trip. Whether you are going for a walk, a paddle, or just enjoying being by the water at Bilarong Reserve, Narrabeen Lagoon is a relaxing spot. Hire a paddleboard or a kayak, or enjoy a nature walk around the lake.
